Swiss/Canadian singer/songwriter RYKKA presents her song “The Last Of Our Kind” which has been chosen to represent Switzerland at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. Rykka convinced both the audience and an expert jury in the Swiss national finale, and thus won the ticket to Stockholm.
The multitalented musician, tucked away in the vast hills and deep lakes near Zürich, Switzerland and in the Canadian wilderness surrounding Vancouver, has been writing feverishly and honing her next sound. Change has been a constant for the aspiring songwriter, who started as an acoustic folk artist under her moniker Christina Maria before reinventing herself as Rykka and emerging with an alternative pop bang.
“The Last Of Our Kind”, produced by Warne Livesey at Toronto’s Coalition Music, is a triumphant mega-ballad about standing for love at the end of the world. Swiss DJ/producer team Sonny Vice & Mark David provide an upgraded version of this musical gem. The duo revamped the song into a powerful percussively driven Anthem that can easily be considered equal to the original as a fine addition to the package.

Die Schweiz-Kanadierin RYKKA präsentiert ihren Song “The Last Of Our Kind”, der erkoren wurde, die Schweiz am 2016 EUROVISION SONG CONTEST zu vertreten. Rykka überzeugte das Schweizer Publikum und die Expertenjury gleichermassen und gewann somit das Ticket nach Stockholm.
Die multitalentierte Musikerin wuchs im weitläufigen Kanada auf, während ihr Grossvater ursprünglich aus dem beschaulichen Baselland stammt. Heute lebt sie sowohl in Zürich als auch in Vancouver. Die Erfahrungen als Singer-Songwriterin und routinierte Strassenmusikerin unter dem Namen Christina Maria bereichern ihre heutigen Songs als RYKKA: smarter Alternativ-Pop in ihrem ureigenen Stil.
Der Gesang des neusten Werks “The Last Of Our Kind” wurde im heimischen Belalp aufgenommen und in den Toronto Coalition Music Studios von Warne Livesey produziert.
